PERFECT FOR YOU: How to travel in style
Posted August 3, 2012on:
Annoying isn’t it – those celebrities who step off a long haul flight and whether they’ve spruced themselves up to within an inch of catwalk chic like Posh, or have that ‘just-thrown-together-look’ like Rosie Huntington Whiteley, you can’t help but wonder “why can’t I look like that?”. Well you can. Minus the First Class seats and the Private Jet, if you do a teeny bit of wardrobe planning pre-travel and pre-holiday packing you’ll step off your flight looking perfectly put together. Throw on a large pair of oversized sunglasses and you might even get papped.
In this week’s Perfect For You emails we’ve singled out a few easy pieces for jet-set chic. A good casual jacket will give that instant polish to a travel outfit. Think about where you are going and pick a multi-tasking casual piece. Jetting off to the sunny climates? In the look above, style a soft linen jacket from Brora with these white skinny J Brand Jeans and Anniel flats. All of which you’ll be working into your holiday outfits. Even if you think you won’t need a jacket where you are holidaying, if you are travelling back home to a cooler climate be prepared. Jeans are great as they prepare you for all eventualities. Lighter wash denims and pastel skinnies are perfect for a summer holiday. A pashmina style scarf is your travelling best friend. It’ll double up as an onboard blanket when things get a little chilly and on holiday you have an instant evening cover over little dresses if the wind picks up. I’m still feeling very patriotic and have Olympic fever so have thrown in this gorgeous lace print pashmina from Stella McCartney.
Imagine you’re off on a hip city break somewhere. New York perhaps? Go back to basics with a pair of your favourite jeans (these are from Zara) and this time you can do an easy chic ankle boot like these from Acne. They are easy to slip on and off when going through security thanks to the zip fastenings. Anything else will be a little high maintenance. This See By Chloë grey jacket will work a day and night look once you’ve reached your city destination as well as taking you through this season when you are back on your own turf. It’s perfect really and you have your cover-up all sorted. There are some great do-it-all scarves on the high street like this ‘just in at Dressipi’ wool scarf from Mango. All that’s left is for you to sit back, relax and enjoy your flight knowing that you’ll now be touching down in style. Natalie x
