Looking for a Chic Black Top to Dress Up Jeans or a Skirt:

Posted on: February 13, 2012

QUESTION: I’m try to find a nice black top which I can wear on evenings out. To wear either with a skirt or to dress up jeans. It seems like a simple enough thing but the hunt has been driving me mad!!!

ANSWER: Sometimes the simplest things are hardest to find as everyone gets so caught up on producing pieces that are trend led. At the moment it’s all about pastels, wild prints and hot colours. And when it comes to black tops there seems to be a run on basic tees! However, we have found some pieces for you which we hope that you will like.

1. Mango black belted blouse : First up is this chic silky blouse from Mango. For some reason it seems to appear in the “dresses” section of the site as opposed to the “tops” section. This piece has a décolletage flattering v-neck detail and lovely fluted 3/4 length sleeves. What’s more is that it will really show off your waist thanks to the belt. That belted shape means this creates a gorgeous looking silhouette when styled with a pair of jeans, and with a fitted pencil skirt.

2. Me&Em ruched detail jersey top : This silky jersey piece is a lovely versatile must-have. It has figure-flattering, fluid ruching, which sculpts and complements your balanced proportions. The low draped neck will flatter your bust.

3. Zara lace detail blouse : Lace gives a stylish touch to any look. This pussybow detail blouse has a low V-neck line so it complements your décolletage. Again wear this tucked into your jeans or a fitted pencil skirt to make the most of your proportions.
