What Colours Go With My Grey Skinny Jeans?

Posted on: February 14, 2012

QUESTION: I would like your help styling grey jeans. There are tons of photos on the internet of girls wearing them with black and white colours and it does look nice, but I would like to know if there are any more colourful combinations for grey jeans. I have acid wash skinny grey jeans and am a tall blonde. Thanks!

ANSWER: Grey jeans are a fabulous addition to any wardrobe. They work both a winter and a summer look and are a refreshing update on regular blue or black jeans. You absolutely do not have to style them with a simple black and white. There are so many gorgeous colours and prints out there this season, (all from your favourite brands), and they will look fabulous paired with a grey.

1. BRIGHT COLOURS will give a great burst of energy to your grey skinny jeans. Pink is one of your favourite colours and this hot pink tailored H&M jacket is perfect. A single breasted detail will accentuate the look of your defined waist. You can layer this over a simple soft grey t-shirt or make a statement and style it with this ruffle hem grey top from Reiss. The play on proportion with the fitted jacket, full hem and skinny jean will boost your enviable curves…and look cool. Think of other colours you like, like a bright blue for example, and style your jeans with a simple bright blue t-shirt.

2. PASTELS are a huge trend this season and they are a great way to add a feminine touch to an edgier pair of skinny jeans. A candyfloss blue or a dusty pink would look great with the grey. Style this Zara ruffle detail blouse with your skinny jeans and a fabulous pair of ankle boots or vampier pointed heels. Throw on this summer tweed H&M jacket – let the shirt hang longer (which it will). The striking contrast black satin trim draws attention to your waist.

3. PRINTS – hot-off-the-catwalk – are simply aching to join your jeans. Go for a fabulous animal print. The way to ‘do’ prints this season is to clash contrast patterns. This Topshop piece does just that, combining an animal print with a paisley print – a textile trend started last season by the designers Clements Ribeiro. Pair this with a skinny belt to cinch in your waist.

You could of course add a chic crisp white shirt and dress up the look with bright accessories or bold statement pieces in gold.

Have fun experimenting with your jeans! Natalie x
