PERFECT FOR YOU: A dress to cover all wedding eventualities

Posted on: July 6, 2012

You’ve done the hen weekend. Booked the tickets and hotel rooms to the far flung wedding venue destination. Paid your rent, dealt with the mortgage, tackled the house bills. And now there is that small matter of what to wear to the actual wedding, and the next three after the one in the far flung destination. In this week’s “Perfect For You” email we’ve handpicked a versatile piece that we know you’ll be able to wear to quite a few weddings with a stylish change of accessories. So you’ll only really have to worry about buying one dress.

This sunshine yellow Oasis dress with flattering cowl neck gets a chic vintage feel thanks to the patent beige New Look clutch and this fabulous beaded headpiece also from New Look. For a complete make-over, style your dress with bold colours. A purple clutch bag  (a very next season colour) and striking Principles by Ben de Lisi black hat give the dress a touch of drama. Add a faux-fur jacket and you’ve got the perfect winter wedding outfit too.

You should avoid doing a top-to-toe, matchy-matchy, colour combination with your accessories (hat, bag, shoes). What you can do is colour co-ordinate two of them for example. To style this blue DVF dress for the first wedding outfit, we’ve paired it with a fabulous bright pink clutch and fascinator. The ‘pinks’ (or whatever colour you go for) don’t have to be the same shade. You can then complete the look with a silvery grey metallic heel or go for gold (keeping in the spirit of the Olympics). To give the dress a whole make-over, in outfit number two we’ve worked with shades of blue and silvery grey. Turn heads in this gorgeous Philip Treacy hat in a soft grey. Picking up on the blue of the dress, we’ve added a touch of texture and shine, with this Anya Hindmarch glitter clutch. Both the hat and the bag will then blend in perfectly with a silver shoe. So now you have two weddings sorted out style wise, we’ll leave you to accessorise your perfect dress accordingly for the third and fourth. Natalie x
