LUST HAVES: Work your shape with the new Zara Advance collection

Posted on: July 18, 2012

We couldn’t tear ourselves away from the new Zara Advance collection hitting the stores and our site this week. Overall the collection has a more luxurious feel to it and although theres is a stylish catwalk element to it the pieces are utterly wearable and will update the most simplest of wardrobes. We’ve picked out a three gems and talked “shape” with them:

1. Waist-accentuating peplum dress: Waist not want not! It’s a season of waist-cinchers and peplums as once again designers have put a heavy emphasis on the shapely female form. Think Grace Kelly. Peplums can appear a little high maintenance. It’s a whole extra piece of fabric to worry about. But they are a clever way of giving the illusion of shapely curves and a defined waist. This vampy lace dress works the trend perfectly. With a figure hugging top and pencil straight skirt the volume of the peplum gives a shapely boost. Just add a bit of a wiggle when you walk.

2. Proportion balancing, hip-skimming dress: Nipped in at the waist, fuller in the skirt, a high neckline to draw the eye up. It’s a stylish way to balance out proportions. If you are lacking in the definition department this dress will sculpt a curvier looking shape. If you’re blessed in the curve department this dress will complement your assets. If you want to subtly disguise your wider hip proportions the fuller skirt will magic them away.

3. Versatile tuxedo blazer: Every wardrobe needs one of those must-have versatile blazers. You know, the one that goes with everything including a cocktail dress. This gorgeous tuxedo blazer will work any shape like a dream, creating flattering definition and sculpting. It’s particularly good for softening the look of broad shoulders as that striking satin lapel draws the eye down. Natalie x
