WARDROBE WONDERS: What we’ve snapped up and how we are wearing it

Posted on: August 7, 2012

On Saturday I popped into one of of my favourite everything-under-one-roof department stores Fenwicks, because I was looking for a dress to wear to a wedding at the end of August. I didn’t find the dress – my size had sold out – but I always like to have a wander around the top floor. It’s there where those new, cool brands first surface long before they hit anywhere else. I also love the precise, concise jeans department. Especially in the sales.

I happened to stumble across a couple of very good sales’ rails where I snapped up these snakeskin print Current/Elliott skinnies….for £49. Not the usual £189. I have had my eye on them for some time but honestly I thought I was not really a skinny jeans kind of girl – even though they do suit my body shape. However, I discovered that I like the actual denim that Current/Elliott use. It’s the way they fit – not so clingy but almost more of an ultra-fitted straight leg. Styled with a pin thin black satin stiletto court by Manolo Blahnik and a charcoal grey men’s cashmere jumper from Loro Piana. I balanced out the skinnies with a bit of volume. Nothing wrong with borrowing from the boys…especially jumpers. But just make sure you don’t swamp your shape. My jumper is balanced out shape-wise with the skinnies. When it’s colder I’ll wear it with a belted faux-fur gilet and these jeans or my favourite ultra-thick Zara leggings.

For Sarah’s birthday we snapped up these gorgeous Zara stud detail courts £49.99 from the new season collections. They are perfect with Sarah’s turned up jeans and an Olympics’ GB cup (!)…photographed by our tech guru Kai and art directed by our other tech guru Elena. You see how fashion is rubbing off on technology and the other way around. Take a great little black day dress add opaques and these will just give it an edgier feel than the courts I am wearing with my jeans for example. Natalie x
