STYLE ADVICE: My prom is coming up, what styles and colours suit me?

Posted on: August 20, 2012

QUESTION: Hi, my prom is coming up this year, and I want to look amazing (for once) – but I have a tendency to like clothes that don’t suit me. I was wondering if you had any tips as to what style(s) & colour(s) would suit me? My figure is like a stick really, no bum, no boobs, long legs.. I’m really pale(cool skin, not warm), blonde hair, blue eyes – help, please! 🙂

ANSWER: Many thanks for contacting us. It sounds like you need a knockout dress for such a special occasion. You have a fabulous figure and an enviable height which means that most styles look great on you but more feminine fitted garments with an element of sculpting help to accentuate a more curvy silhouette. You can see from your Fashion Fingerprint that blues look great on you. All shades from icy blue to deep navy look heavenly on your colouring and if you look in the colour section of your page you’ll find a few other key shades that flatter. So without further a do, here are some suggestions to inspire:

1. Forever 21 dress £19.75: – this aqua blue tone has a fabulous v-neck perfect for your shoulder line and a nipped in waist detail. This shows off your fabulous shape in a gorgeous drapey chiffon:

2. New Look dress £22.79: – a dramatic navy lace fit and flare shape dress that has a stunning neck and half sleeve detail:

3. Boohoo dress £12: – we love this printed asymmetric shoulder dress. It still has that curve enhancing fit and flare shape and the print features some gorgeous aqua tones as well as a pretty magentas that would look good on you:

4. Matalan shoes £14: – Pointed stilettos are the hot shoe shape of the season. These navy ones from Matalan would look stunning with all three dresses and you could wear them with a pair of ankle length jeans and a t-shirt after the prom:

5. Forever 21 clutch £10.86:– a sparkly clutch bag is an investment piece for any wardrobe and this one from Forever 21 comes at an amazing price. The metallic tone is a great contrast with all the dresses and adds a hint of sparkle to your evening look. Have a fabulous time at the prom and let us know how you get on. Tara x
