Hot off the London Fashion Week almost front row: Mark Fast s/s 2013

Posted on: September 18, 2012

One of our style team, Eva, was soaking up the madness of London Fashion Week. Here are her fabulous pics and style snippets on Mark Fast’s show:

Canadian born knitwear designer and Central Saint Martin graduate, Mark Fast catwalk show did not fail to disappoint yesterday. His Spring/summer 2013 collection was staged at the BFC show space at Somerset House. Once I’d squeezed past the bank of photographers and camera crews, I finally found my seat, which just happened to be behind Kelly Brook, Pixie Lott and Kate Nash.

Finally the flashes bulbs had stopped, the lights went down and Salt ‘n Peppers ‘Push It’ started. This opening song then set the scene for a Mark Fast collection that was obviously inspired by 80’s hip-hop. It was ghetto fabulous, with the models sporting short, afro hair, chunky gold necklaces and large hooped earrings.

Fast is known for his knitwear, and his creative use of it, and this was incorporated with massive fringing cut in and metallic for a more modern look. The colour palette was pastel shades with burst of brights, again adding to the whole 80’s feel. It really took me back to that ‘old school hip-hop vibe’ where women were fierce and strong! Eva x
