PERFECT FOR YOU: All about new season jeans

Posted on: January 11, 2013

“Designer jeans…what are your thoughts on spending all that money on them?” …

“If you think of your cost per wear when it comes to jeans it’s worth it.” “Yes but I find the Topshop Moto jeans work really well for me.” “…Uniqlo’s are not too bad”…”they are good but the colour runs”…”GAP is always quite good too…but they loose their shape after a while…” And so the conversation goes. When it comes to finding that perfect pair of jeans it boils down to fit, naturally, and your personal preference.

I love my Current/Elliott ‘leggings’ which are not leggings at all but a slightly loser skinny jean. The only problem is they have ripped in all the wrong places and I cannot find a replacement. I also love my black J Brand skinny cords which I use as a default jean option in this crazy weather. Thankfully you’ll see that this season the waist on jeans is moving upwards. Whew. No more builders’ bum. Even if you are wearing La Perla it’s simply far too much information when it comes to decent attire. Thankfully as I say we’ll be a seeing a lot more mid and high rise denim. You only have to look at all those fabulous high rise jeans with new denim brand from jeans guru Donna Ida called Ida By Donna Ida 9coming to Dressipi soon. You’ll already see loads of high res skinnies at the likes of New Look, ASOS and RIver Island and Topshop is paying homage to the 90’s with what they call their “Mom Jeans’ – a high waisted, loosely tapered jean…so even the cool kids are aiming higher when it comes to the waist.

Hopefully in this week’s Perfect For You email we’ve helped unearthed a great pair of jeans from the abundance of choice out their. Each season welcomes a fabulously fashionable denim print. More often than not it’s been animal print, and you can always look to the premium designer denim brands like Current/Elliot to see what patterns are packing a bit of a must-have punch. This season, florals are lending a feminine edge to denim in a strong black, white and grey colour palette. Take your style cue from these Current/Elliott skinnies or indulge in a catwalk designer offering like Stella McCartney’s mid-rise skinnies. On the mid-range front try these at Weekend Max Mara to a great must-have high street number at Miss Selfridge. Natalie x
