STAR STYLE: GOLDEN GLOBES AND GOLDEN GOWNS

Posted on: January 14, 2013

Not only did they get best actresses accolades of some sort or other but the girls who took home the Golden Globes last night also won in the best gown stakes – in my opinion. Ravishing reds and very low key almost bridal ivory and blush were the all out must-have colours of the night. The key silhouette – anything that accentuated and highlighted the waist from plunging necklines to waist-cinching corsets. You only had to follow twitter last night as the stars hit the red carpet to feel like you were there Stateside and red-carpet side from the virtual ‘ooohs’ and ‘ahhs’ over Claire Danes ‘I just had a baby a month ago’ killer body and statement Atelier Versace Couture gown. Anne Hathaway looked spectacular in an understated Chanel Couture column with low-key but highly effective waist-sculpting peplum. Julianne Moore worked the new season’s ‘black with a hint of white combination’ in a bespoke Tom Ford gown and Jennifer Lawrence dazzled in a modern take on a fairytale ballgown in her Dior Couture floor-sweeping dress. Jessica Chastain channelled a similar silhouette to Claire Danes with her low cut Calvin Klein gown but I have to say I prefer the fit, colour and general overall ‘wow’ factor of Danes’ piece. Although she did not go home with a gong Downton Abbey’s ‘Lady Mary’ looked spectacular in her Alexandre Vaulthier gold embroidered body-sculpting dress. I can’t wait for the Oscars. Natalie x
