LUST HAVES: London Fashion Week A/W 2013

Posted on: February 20, 2013

London Fashion Week – a crazy, wonderful week of spectacular shows and brilliant events; some leave you begging for more whilst others leave you a little… confused lets say. This season I was lucky enough to be able to take part in even a little snippet of the madness on behalf of Dressipi which was fantastic.

On Friday the 15th of February I was able to sit front row at the London College of Fashion MA show, hosted at the spectacular Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The wealth of talent was really something, and I was genuinely blown away by some of the pieces. Being a sucker for pleats and bright colours my favourite collection had to be Yi Xie’s closely followed by Min Wu’s – Min Wu’s was feminine and elegant, whilst Yi Xie’s packed a more sexy, powerful punch.

When it came down to the professional designers’ runway shows, there were certainly some stand out pieces. Pringle of Scotland lived up to their cosy highland chic reputation and presented some wonderful pieces that I would go out and buy in a heartbeat if I could! Another highlight was Roksanda Illinic’s collection in which she worked with texture and structure to create a really elegant and beautiful collection. All runway pictures are from www.style.com

My final dabble in the delights of Fashion Week came with the amazing opportunity to hear Jonathan Saunders be interviewed by Grazia’s Editor-in-chief Jane Brunton at Matches’ House of Grazia, where we were greeted with mini pain au chocolats and rhubarb, mint, and apple smoothies! It was fantastic to be able to hear Jonathan speak not only about his inspirations but also the challenges of being a world renowned designer who came from humble beginnings in Glasgow – being Scottish myself I certainly agreed with his statement that Scottish people love clothes and would rather live off tinned beans in order to be able to afford a new outfit!

These were my favourite pieces by far from his collection:

I love the clash of pink and red, and the sexiness of this sheer black dress paired with stunning red shoes.

So there you have it – London Fashion Week has finished for yet another season and it has been amazing to be part of it in some small way. Here’s to the next one!
