LUST HAVES: Something for everyone at Monsoon and Accessorize A/W13 Press Day

Posted on: May 23, 2013

The great thing about fashion is that there is always something new to get excited about – whether it be new clothes, accessories, or retailers. Some would say its hard to keep up, with retailers producing more and more amazing products for us to sink our teeth into and lust after. Last week I popped along to Covent Garden to check out Monsoon and Accessorize’s A/W13 Press Day, which left me suitably impressed and feeling incredibly excited about the season to come.

What struck me immediately as I walked into the Accessorize showroom was the myriad of fantastic trends – with everything from monochrome, cosy winter warmers, and leather bags in bold colours, there truly was something for everybody. Being Scottish myself, I was particularly pleased to see that there was a focus on Highland chic, with beautiful rich tartans, and faux fur hats that wouldn’t look out of place on an afternoon winter stroll.

However what got me even more excited than the reference to Scotland (if that’s even possible) was the array of fabulous statement jewellery. I felt an extreme case of Magpie syndrome come across me as I ooooh’d and aaaahhh’d over all the wonderful pieces whilst clutching a rhubarb, elderflower and raspberry smoothie.

What struck me most was the attitude of that the the bigger and bolder and blingier, the better! This is fine by me, as I can imagine nothing more stylish than wearing this beautiful necklace (I will be purchasing this AS SOON as it comes out!) with a crisp white Zara shirt, skinny jeans and Rag and Bone ankle boots.

There were also some beautiful clutch bags for evenings out, as well as more casual leather handbags for everyday use.

After I managed to drag myself away from Accessorize, I ventured into Monsoon’s showroom which was equally as lovely. Not only were there beautiful jumpers on display, but also some stunning dresses for the winter party season, many of which were very Great Gatsby-esque with sequins and lace to die for.

If you’d like something similar there are some great pieces out there at the moment such as this flapper dress from Jigsaw. If you’d rather nod to the trend rather than going the whole hog, this New Look clutchwould look great teamed with an LBD.

So all in all it was a great afternoon which left me feeling very excited for next season. The goodie bags were pretty great too!
