STYLE ADVICE: What outfit can I wear to a wedding in the countryside in September?

Posted on: August 12, 2013

QUESTION: Please could you help me work out what to wear to a wedding in the UK countryside in late September?  I’d like to really look classy and “effortlessly” dressed-up, but also feel comfortable! I’m 30 years old, very pale with long, dark brown hair, and brown eyes. My budget is around £300.

ANSWER: When putting together a wedding guest outfit look for pieces that are true wardrobe investments no matter how much they cost. Accessories can multi-task on a number of outfits and a great versatile dress can be styled up or down. You might spend more on your shoes and snap up a high street dress bargain – or vice-versa.

1. Topshop, dress £40:-  With your colouring you can channel the gorgeous broody brights of the new season. The style and colour of this dress are perfect for you. The waistband and draping will accentuate and shape your waist and create a chic and modern silhouette. Match your lipstick with the dress for a chic vampy look:

2. Lucy Choi London, heels £195:  These heels are a fabulous wardrobe investment. They will dress up the simplest of looks and work their magic on everything from a pair of jeans to a chic party dress. Animal print is a timeless pattern:

3. Dune, Clutch £65:– You don’t have to match accessories from top-to-toe. It’s best to break up the colours or even clash them. You can never go wrong with a sparkly metallic clutch when it comes to a wedding or a night out.  Alternatively you could style your look with a sumptuous dark green:

4. Coast headpiece £45: Finally for that finishing touch add a chic structured headpiece in an understated neutral tone:
