STYLE ADVICE: I am wearing this Coast dress to a ball – what accessories go with it?

Posted on: January 20, 2014

QUESTION: Hi, I’m wearing this Coast (Millie) dress to a ball. What sort of accessories would work best with it? (shoes, bag, jewellery/hair accessories ). Many thanks!

ANSWER: Hi Claire, your event sounds so glamorous and exciting. Personally I’m excited about how perfect your dress is. You’ve really hit the style nail on the head with this one. The dress perfectly balances your proportions, is in a great shade and ticks the style trend boxes; hot bright colour, lace trim, and off shoulder detail. Love love love!!! Now all there is to decide what you want your accessories to say about you once you make your entrance. Here’s a few concepts we hope you’ll love.

Coast dress was £195, now £95.

1. Diane Von Furstenberg, courts now £181: A pointed black pump might be slightly unconventional but take a hint from celebs like Angelina Jolie, they always bring the dark glamour to life at a big event. What’s more you will get a lot of use out of these as they will work a dream with trousers, jeans, skirts…you name it:

2. Monsoon, Clutch £29: The jewelled effect on this clutch from Monsoon is definitely event-worthy and the price tag doesn’t hurt either. This clutch is so versatile you’ll be pulling it out for a plethora of occassions.

3. Coast, Earrings £15: A chic up do means chandeliers are a must and these Art Deco meets glitz and glam are just the ticket for this look.

4. Asos, Sandals £42: You don’t have to sacrifice sultry for playing it safe these on trend sandals do both.

1. Zara, Heels £59.99:- Strap up this gorgeous pair of heels for extra glamour on the night. The gold will turn up the X factor and the pointed toe is a perfect style statement.

2. Aftershock, Earrings £12: It’s the simplicity of these earrings that hold all the charm, and the vintage twist that says 50’s movie star.

3. Monsoon, Clutch £35: This clutch is another simply sophisticated accessory that wows with an embellished front.

1. LK Bennett, Sandals £195: You can’t go wrong with a silver sandal, the open toe gives it the extra dressy effect as does the crossover detail. These are a great versatile investment pair.

2. New Look, Clutch £15.99: We Love a good shimmer and a box clutch is the arm candy of the season.

3. Mint Velvet, Bracelet £25: This sparkle bracelet will wow the onlookers – it’s a showpiece that compliments the main attraction. With a stretchy comfort fit wear it all night with no problem.

1. Carvela, Sandals £120: Dare to clash with these gorgeous sandals. Blue is the opposite of orange on the colour spectrum so even though the colours seem worlds apart these opposites attract.

2. Marks and Spencer, Clutch £19.50: Work this hot shade with your heels and to tie the look together. I love the on-trend pleating on this chic clutch.

3. Coast, Earrings £9: Adding these drop earrings gives the finishing touch this outfit needs. Simply chic and classically stylish.
