STYLE ADVICE: I am looking for a date night outfit on a high street budget

Posted on: February 17, 2014

QUESTION: I am about to go on a first date on Valentines, for a romantic meal. The last time I saw this person I was a size 10,12 now I am a 16/18. I want to look the best I can and as slim as I can on a high street budget

ANSWER: Your date sounds exciting, a great chance to dress up and just be fab! If you take a look at your fashion fingerprint you’ll see what items suit you and why. For you it’s all about balancing out your proportions and cinching in your waist.

1. Phase Eight, Dress £79:– A wrap style dress is perfect for creating some gorgeous curves by cinching in the waist. The v-neck is great for a larger bust and the below-the-knee style is the go-to length for that demure evening look:

2. Monsoon dress £69:– Go for a classic chic and stylish look with this fit-and-flare black outfit. It also clinches in the waist and flares out skimming over the hips  with its flattering  full skirt look. Use the blank canvas to add gorgeous accessories:

3. Nine West, shoes £95:– A patent finish is ideal for date night, and the peep toe gives it that sultry look. Wear these for either of the dresses you choose:

4. Zara necklace £25.99:– Statement necklaces are the way to take your outfit up a notch without breaking the bank. The hints of blush in this necklace will go great with the deep burgundy dress or sit perfectly on the black dress:

5. Zara, Clutch £25.99:– We love a good snake print – it just adds a great hint of style to any outfit and this clutch is perfect for the job. The subtle colours means it’s versatile and you’ll be wearing it at many more occasions and dates:

6. H&M, Blouse £14.99:- Get ready for the follow up date with this gorgeous blush blouse. Team with straight leg jeans and a biker jacket for lunch or drinks, you’ll even be able to add the clutch and peep toes to complete the look:

7. H&M, Jeans £29.99:– Straight leg jeans are great for a dressier jeans style and also for balancing out proportions when styled with fluid tops.  SarahA x
