OUTFITS: One skirt, two ways

Posted on: June 10, 2014

Fashion is a funny thing. One season you’re so not a skirt person, the next season suddenly it’s all about skirts and maybe, just maybe you are that skirt person after all. We’ve moved on from the sleek confines of pencil skirts to softer, flirtier numbers that lend themselves perfectly to being styled 24/7. This Maxmara piece sits just on the knee, and there are some fantastic similar styles at ASOS that are midi-length. The barely there pink shade benefits from a wild hot boost of this season’s on-trend catwalk prints. By now you may have seen gorgeous magazine fashion shoots in far-flung destinations with clothes and accessories inspired by the colours, prints and jewellery of countries around the globe. Closer to home I’ve clashed this DVF stripe print top with a fun embellished Monsoon bum bag. Yes bum bag. Very retro I know, probably better for sight seeing trips but it’s the perfect belt/accessory/clutch for this Wanderlust look. What’s more it leaves you hands-free for shopping and a spot of city-chic lunch with friends. Need to turn this skirt into a fabulous wedding guest outfit? Add a subtle floral print in a vibrant shade like this fluid silk top from Whistles. The vivid green of this clutch complements this top perfectly and a stud detail shoe gives a modern cool spin to a ladylike look.
