OUTFITS: One dress, two outfits

Posted on: October 14, 2014

Remember that gorgeous blue Issa dress the Duchess of Cambridge wore on the announcement of the royal engagement? Apart from the fabulous colour, the winning appeal of that dress is that it draped and flattered in all the right places looking utterly feminine. It is also the type of dress that literally will take you anywhere and everywhere. No matter what the occasion. I know because I have one, well actually two or three or four. This winter, look for a dress that you can buy now, wear now and also many years later. This LK Bennett piece is great. The soft pleats at the front will drape gently over the tummy area (if that is a problem area for you), but it also has a flattering waist-scultpting detail. The print is not too over powering so it is not one of those pieces that you will get bored of wearing because of pattern overload. Have fun with this number. Go for a colour-block approach with soft neutrals for work – that gorgeous Dior dove grey is very much one of the colours of this season, and amp up the style with wild hot hues and luscious textures for evening. That lust-have faux-fur M&S coat will give you an instant dose of quick-fix glamour when you next pop out to get the weekend papers, coffee and a croissant. Natalie x
