2016-02-29-one-look-RTWeren’t some of those Oscar dresses fabulous. Shout out to Best Actress winner Brie Larson in a dreamy floor-sweeping royal blue Gucci gown and Leo in Armani! There were quite a few red-carpet jumpsuit and cape combinations too like Lady Gaga in all the drama of an ivory Brandon Maxwell number and Elizabeth Banks in ivory lace Ralph & Russo. Channel this look, without the cape, for a different spin on occasion dressing. Tory Burch’s red hot jumpsuit has a sleek straight leg cut. At Dolce & Gabbana’s Fairytale Fantasy show in Milan this weekend models wore oversized headbands with brocade and jacquard bows and jewel embellishment. This Misa Harada headpiece will create that same effect so you can wear next season now. Natalie x

1. Misa Harada hat £105, 2. Tory Burch jumpsuit £350, 3. Topshop earrings £8.50, 4. Dune bag £99, 5. Topshop heels £52.

Maybe just maybe you can dispense with your coats this weekend in which case this faux-fur bomber jacket from Uniqlo will be just the piece to do the style trick. It’s from part of former French VOGUE Editor Carine Roitfeld’s collection for the brand as is this rib knit khaki jumper. Simple but chic. If you’ve always wanted to try out a boyfriend jean but were not too keen on the ultra slouchy styles this pair  from Topshop is a little slimmer in fit than the usual roomier boyfriend styles. Roll up the cuffs, pop on knee-length micro-fish-nets, just add these heels and a touch of a print and you’ve got a perfectly chic but cosy weekend dinner look.  Natalie x

  1. Uniqlo Carine Roitfeld jacket £79.90, 2. Uniqlo Carine Roitfeld jumper £29.90, 3. Topshop boyfriend jeans £42, 4. Zara bag £29.99, 5. Halston Heritage heels now £197.50

We simply cannot get enough of denim here on planet fashion. Double denim, denim dungarees, new jeans shapes, and the denim dresses. We saw the rise and rise of the denim dress last summer and if denim is your thing there are some really fabulous styles to choose from catering to everyone’s style. There’s long sleeved and belted at Jaeger, loose and laid-back at Violeta, or somewhere in-between with this soft A-line ladylike take from Zara. This is a great transitional piece that will work well with ankle boots and your must-have biker jacket to keep the chill factor at bay. Slip into espadrille wedges or flat gladiator sandals when the sun comes out to play. Natalie x

  1. Mango jacket £59.99, 2. Zara dress £39.99,  3. Mint Velvet scarf £39, 4. River Island boots now £35, 5. 5. Michael Michael Kors bag £291.57.

Remember your coats email from last week with those transitional cover-ups that are perfect for this in between season weather? I have taken the must-have trench coat and styled in into an occasion look – just add a headpiece for a wedding. This more fluid shape is ideal for draping over this silky feel Topshop dress with waist-defining belt. I love this Zara bag in a sumptuous woven leather.  You can use it 24/7 and it adds stylish texture to this outfit. Add glitzy accents with these jewelled chandelier earrings. Think about dressing this down for the warmer months with a strappy wedge sandal and coloured tote. Natalie x

1. Topshop dress £58, 2. Banana Republic earrings £29.99, 3. Mango coat £89.99, 4. Zara bag £49.99, 5. Mint Velvet heels £129

I mentioned yesterday that New York fashion Week street style – where most of the fashion actually happens – was all about statement coats and statement boots. Your coats need a capsule wardrobe approach too, think a basic like a parka + investment like your classic tailored black coat + a trend update, or statement coat. This leopard print faux-fur piece from Mango is not only on sale but as well as giving a catwalk update it’s also in one of those prints that is really timeless. It’s hard to find a stylish jumper without embellishment that is both cosy but also something that you can wear for a day-to-night look. This slim fit black piece from Reiss has an usual sheer panel detail at the neckline that also runs down the arm. Just add heels to your jeans for a night out or style with a leather pencil skirt. Remember when Levi’s were the only denim brand you ever wanted? I wish had kept all my Levi’s jeans because the company has given their denim a style reboot and it’s back up there with the best of them – at a fraction of the price. Sticking to the nostalgia theme…do you also remember when, thanks to Tom Ford, Gucci loafers became more than just a social status number but also a fashion must-have. The Gucci loafer-mood is back in full force from designer to high street (you might like Zara’s tan suede version here or John Lewis’ red suede style here). These Saint Laurent glasses will keep you in the contemporary-retro mood. Natalie x

1. Mango coat now £29.99, 2. Reiss jumper £90, 3. Levi’s jeans £90, 4. Saint Laurent glasses £210, 5. Isabel Marant shoes £280.

If you have a look at any of the street style pics emerging from New York Fashion week which is taking place right now, you’ll see that in spite of the edgy, trendy, fashionable ensembles going on with all those fashion editors and bloggers, thanks to the glacial weather their looks are more about the coats and cover-ups than what lies beneath. Have a look in your wardrobe and if you haven’t already it’s time to start wearing all that faux-fur that was so on trend last season. You’ll also notice the eye-catching footwear more so because a lot of the trouser lengths this season are flying somewhere between the ankle and the calf. In a toned down take on this fashion week street style trend, pair these ankle length black trousers with an eye-catching print boot. In an ankle length. This loose fit COS jumper has a comfy feel to it and layer perfectly under this faux-fur piece from Oasis. Use your bags to inject accents of vivd colour into your look. Natalie x

1. Oasis coat £80, 2. COS jumper £59, 3. Jaeger trousers now £99, 4. Topshop boots £36, 5. Whistles bag £40.

I can’t tell you the amount of times during those hot (rare I know) high summer month(s) that I get asked “where can I get a nice pair of decent go-with-anything leather wedge sandals?” And more often than not whilst I can steer you in the right direction said wedges are either sold out or available in every colour under the sun…but a good go-with-anything shade. Which is why when I saw these shoes on Zara’s site yesterday I decided to publish this blog today in sub zero temperatures. These are the wedges that will do everything you want them to do for your summer and holiday wardrobes, and they are 100% leather. Style with shorts, bright coloured cropped trousers, flared denim, maxi dresses in summer prints, crisp white cotton dresses, little black dresses…you name it. Personally when I shop I tend to shop for pieces I am going to wear right now…which is why I know I’ll be sighing with regret come high summer when I’m looking for that perfect leather wedge … Natalie x
