Shape up in style over this bank holiday weekend. You might have noticed a lot of tees have been given a twist-front-tie detail upgrade. It’s just one of those quirky fashion details that is very ‘now’. Whistles also does this top in a bright red and it’s a good piece as it doubles up for an evening look with jeans or slinky tailored trousers and vampy heels. If you want to stay in trainers by night then amp things up with a statement earring or necklace. Why not! These Uniqlo trousers fall just at the ankle and have a comfy slouchy feel to them so for city break holidays they would look great worn with a pair of must-have lace-up espadrilles, like these ones from Zara £39.99 , or flat sandals for the beach like these ones at M&S £25. Summer brights are just itching to make an appearance in our wardrobes. This season sees a big vibrant colour clash with rules of its own. One way to translate this trend is to start with a hot hued maxi dress and add an accessory – no matter how big or small – in an equally vivid clashing shade. This mood lends itself perfectly to those hot balmy days spent in exotic beach locations. Switch it all over for a chic occasion or evening look with a change of accessories. Natalie x

When it comes to pattern and print keep it sleek and simple with your accessories. Somewhere in your wardrobe it helps to have at hand a heel + bag + accessory combination that you can go to at the last minute to style anything from a chic black dress to a fun print piece taking a look from day to night. On the simplest level a mixture of neutrals (think black, nude, stone) and metallics in your accessory fashion formula works a dream. Avoid going matchy-matchy with all three pieces. Give it a try! Blend your prints with some of the new season’s neutral offerings. Belted jackets are showing up all over the place. Whilst these are great for creating definition if you’re not in the mood to be cinched-in, or, you are after a 2-in-1 piece, simply ditch the belt and wear your jacket loose as an alternative. Neutrals are a great way to balance out pattern. Transition this little floral number from Oasis into a fabulous occasion look by styling with a tailored pencil skirt in the same pink shade and a pair of silver sandals. Natalie x

These jackets are handy wardrobe staples. Switch them around as they work perfectly with either of these looks. A bright coloured tee adds a stylish lift to khakis and dark greens. Gold accessories and hints of animal print give that safari-chic cool to these colour combinations. Natalie x

Planning a weekend break in the sunshine? Soak up the sunshine in a gorgeous bright maxi dress. This piece is channeling the Spanish Influences trend with its flouncy off-the-shoulder ruffle detail and that flamenco lipstick red. A gold heel and clutch will make this an eye-catching evening number. By day, versatile neutral shades are the perfect balance. Create even more definition by looping this rope leather belt around the waist. You could do the same with a slinky gold chain belt like this piece from Topshop £16. I put these wedge sandals in because they are a great summer style and are on sale at The Outnet. You might also like this red crochet sundress from ASOS £38 or this spaghetti strap red maxi from M&S £29.50. Natalie x

Designers and the high street alike are all loosening up lace, taking the usual classic shift dress style and giving it more of a modern spin with a little quirky sleeve detail here or a complete dress shape overhaul there. This means that your lace dress is not stuck in the realms of occasion dressing only. We’ve already seen some fabulous navy pieces from Whistles, Zara and Phase Eight on the blog. The sugary mint shade of this H&M piece adds a fresh alternative (it also comes in a blush colour). Dress it down with an espadrille and straw hat for a casual but chic lunchtime look. Vamp it up with a slinky heel and give a strong contrast with a black clutch. Note to self:  you could also style this for evening with a pastel pink sandal. Natalie x
