A little sunshine pick me up. Pattern and print go a long way in turning a sleek and chic casual jeans look into something with a bit of seasonal zing. Style boyfriend jeans with a patent kitten heel court contrasting a slouchy feel with nifty feminine appeal. Studded flats add a cool contrast to next season’s blooms. You can still snap up some great sales steals like the blouse, bag and jeans in look 2. The good thing is that these will work their fashion magic quite happily into the new season. Natalie x
Le grande sigh ensues after you soak up the glamour of these gorgeous creations that graced the gilt-laden catwalks of the Paris Couture shows these last few days. Clockwise from top left: Versace Couture, Christian Dior, Chanel, Giambattista Valli. (pics via style.com)
Part two of my summer sales trawl of the high street is inspired by bright coloured prints. Bold patterns are summer-time must-haves and stormed the stores from Topshop to Gucci new in this season. I spotted a few gorgeous sale items at Zara and Topshop which aren’t to be missed. Ethnic prints perfectly reflect the ‘World Traveller’ look that is currently trending. I love these Topshop trousers and here’s how I would wear them both for a weekend look and a smarter evening look: Iona x
1. Topshop trousers £40, 2. Fenn Wright Manson top now £22, 3. Zara jacket £69, 4. Long Tall Sally tote now £80, 5. Mint Velvet flats £79, 6. All Saints vest £148, 7. Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch £156.83, 8. Topshop jacket £55, 9. KG by Kurt Geiger shoes £135.
Denim shorts, jeans and dungarees are playing a strong role in the summer sales this year. Up for grabs are a variety of shorts like in Gap (picture top right) and a room full of jeans in Selfridges at a range of enticing prices. Particularly popular this summer, I noticed, was the loose fitting Mom jeans (picture taken in Urban Outfitters bottom right). These jeans are loose fitting and stylish for summer. Another popular item this season is the denim jumpsuit/dungarees (picture bottom middle, Urban Outfitters). This item is ideal in festival season and I would match it with a fringed or flowery cardigan and cool boots like this outfit below: – Iona x
I am doing work experience at Dressipi and went on a mission shopping in the sales on Oxford Street looking for inspiration for next season and to see what was good in the summer sales.
When shopping in the sales off Oxford Street, I was quick to notice the trending patterns of embellished clothing all over the shops in both the sale items and the items which were new in! Fortunately, I think that embellishment works in every event and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. This makes it perfect for summer, as simple outfits can be made more stylish by introducing a sparkly bag/coat for day or evening events reflecting the ‘Summer Sparkle’ look which is presently trending! There are embellished details on sale but also perfect pieces to wear next season as you can see from these designer pieces such as the red Miu Miu coat and gorgeous Louis Vuitton jacket with feather detail. The Topshop jacket is not currently in the sales but I love the embellished pattern. I would wear it dressed up with a black dress and heels or dressed down with stylish jeans or shorts and a plain t-shirt. Iona x
…because sometimes you really don’t need a logical explanation as to why you are buying something. Bags have gone all boudoir on us at Charlotte Olympia where a clutch turns into a lace-up corset. It’s a super-chic talking point! Moschino has turned a sleek tuxedo into a quilted bag and how can anyone resist a bit of powder puff marabou like this ASOS number. Aldo’s perfume bottle clutch inspired this little blog entry but has since sold out! That’s how cute it is. I have however found it on ASOS’s US site if you simply have to lust-have it.
