There’s a new fashion term on the agenda being bandied about by The New York Times and gaining momentum on twitter and every other social fashion platform alike: normocore. In a nutshell it’s low-key dressing, with minimum fuss and hard to place labels (even though on closer inspection those labels will most likely be the most sought after). So really all this normcore is actually quite cool and on-trend. In effect it is the street-style fashionista version of snapping up pieces that are versatile, timeless and blend quietly into an existing wardrobe. It’s all avery Dressipi actually. So far the items we’ve been ‘liking’ the most have been those must-have wardrobe warriors that will multi-task their way through any fashion requirement.

But this last month we’ve all been feeling a little bit of a fashion twitch. It’s the hint of sunshine, the “I’m so over wearing opaque tights and winter pieces” mood, and the urge for a little fashion pick me- up. Just look at our most-liked shoes! We’re feeling the new season trends! It’s out with the black basics and in with a gorgeous Aldo ballerina that channels the monochrome trend and a dazzling on-trend metallic gold Zara flat. The day-to-night print sandal from French Connection is a great investment piece when thinking about summer special events. We’re looking at footwear to give our outfits a fresh catwalk update and scratch that fashion itch.

Basics are still in – both the chic LBD and a crisp, cool white version of the same Mango dress hit most liked dress spot in respective weeks. It’s the dress-up-dress-down appeal of these pieces that make them winners. Again it’s the time of year when weddings are high on the agenda so it’s no surprise to see the Phase Eight pale blue maxi dress in the running. It’s an easy colour and shape to restyle for quite a few events. Phase Eight really is hitting the spot with our users when it comes to dresses.

Designer investment pieces have crept into our most-liked list. The Mulberry Bayswater tote is still one of the brand’s most-loved styles in spite of all the razzmatazz of It-girl, supermodel associations of their other styles. This soft grey will work with any colour. It’s definitely been a ‘tote’ month and the high street has some great pieces alike also in our most-liked list. French favourite Sandro’s classic black jumper wins with its chic appeal. We’ve not been shy on the colour front! This gorgeous red Reiss coat was a winner and on sale too.

The skirt is enjoying a bit of a retro revival this season thanks to the full skirted midi madness that took place on the catwalks, and I am sure we’ll be seeing more pieces like this ASOS number in our most liked spot. Skirts are a tricky fashion beast to get right but on the high street, ASOS has definitely hit the style spot this season with some great styles in particular their plain and printed midis. We’ve just marked the end of the autumn/winter 2014 catwalk collections. Next season is going to be an opulent feast. The statement coat is the new accessory.  Flat shoes, chunky boots and sporty footwear give heels a bit of a run for their money. Then there is all that oversized knitwear, arts-and-crafts textures and clashing print-and-pattern layering.  Back in the fast pace of our 24/7 real lives, when it comes to the pieces on Dressipi that have got our users reaching for the “liked” button more often than not this last month, it really is all about fashion to match a 24/7 lifestyle – namely versatility. It’s that time of the year where we are looking for pieces that are not only effortless to wear but will also transition our wardrobes through the blustery temperatures to is-it-nearly-spring-yet phase. In this week’s Dressipi Style Email we handpicked ‘Your Perfect Versatile Hit Pieces’: a 24/7 dress, an open cardi, black heels.

Fashion has to work double time no matter what the price, perfectly reflected not only on our site but also in the latest high fashion editorials. This week’s edition of net-a-porter.com’s The EDIT champions “24/7 Style” and wardrobe staples such as a Saint Laurent tuxedo jacket or Pierre Hardy mid- heel ankle boots . Vogue’s latest issue with Nigella Lawson gracing the cover flags up “All-Weather Wardrobe Wonders” pointing out that “There are many different interpretations of ‘essential’ when it comes to clothing – one girl’s wellington boot is another’s Vuitton bucket bag…” – case in hand linen boiler suits!

Here at Dressipi, two dresses from Phase Eight hit the top spot as well as a shapely lace effect number from Reiss. All three capture that effortless-dressing mood reflected in the easy-to-wear colours and simple shift styles. Waist-flattering details are key, with soft ruching and gathering on the jersey dresses at Phase Eight (good for disguising the tummy area) and chic on-trend lace panels that give a sense of waist definition at Reiss. You can ‘restyle’ and up/down style these dresses.

Most-liked footwear is casual and weather-friendly with a classic riding and ankle leather boot from Jigsaw. But it was also ultra-chic with a work-to-evening theme in these black patent leather t-bar heels from Reiss and classic platform court fromLK Bennett. We’re not the only ones to champion the appeal of a little black leather jacket which sits perfectly with jeans as well as over a little cocktail dress. This garment has become as much a wardrobe staple as a classic white shirt. On the high street it is no surprise to see a Zara biker piece hitting our top jacket spot.

The breton stripe and polka dot print have an enduring appeal that seem instilled in our consciousness. If you want a’beat-the-showers’ trench coats now is the time to buy it and our most-liked coat last month was this piece from Uniqlo.

The importance of “trends” and “seasonality” is reflected in our most searched for terms. In the first two weeks  of the month with a back-to-work mentality in full swing women were on the look out for “Courts” and and anything in the colour “Black”. As the month unfolded, what with magazine editorials featuring inspiring new-season trends and those wedding invitations starting to appear, “Metallics” and “Occasion” reached our most-searched for spot.
