At the autumn/winter collections in Paris this week one of the biggest trends to emerge is the “no rules” approach when it comes to day or night dressing. It’s glamour all the way with heavily embellished or opulently patterned floor sweeping evening dresses being styled with fur trimmed slides or the shoe of the season a flat black leather ankle boot, preferably a lace-up or military style. Closer to home have a look at some of your favourite party pieces and see if you can give them a dress-down spin with a casual trainer. Look for oversized evening clutches in leather or suede for that bit of edge. Natalie x

Florals! A trend that seems to always be on-trend whether it’s an autumn/winter bloom or a spring/summer blossom. Catwalk trends sometimes feel like they don’t ever change. What does change is the way you wear them. This season, floral prints have a much more indulgent and exotic flavour to them…and so should the way you style them. Go for gold with a luxe layering of colours and textures. The print on this DKNY dress is not your average spring/summer spring. The neon yellow highlights are perfectly accentuated with this plush coloured coat and either of these jewel tone bags. Chandelier earrings turn up the volume…and why not? Natalie x

The few weeks before Christmas are busy for most of us and it’s the same at Dressipi HQ. Apart from polishing and refining the amazing service that we love sharing with our fabulous Dressipi subscribers I’ve also been juggling other styling projects that make the advice we bring as up-to-the minute and topical as possible. I’ve been fortunate enough to be working with the heavenly Emma Bunton for a few months now and was thrilled to be asked to help find her dress for the Viva Forever Premiere last night. Emma has a fabulous figure that looks incredible in sculpting figure hugging silhouettes. She fell in love with an electric blue lace dress by Erdem which we tweaked to make perfect for her petite frame.

Cut from delicate lace Erdem’s Drisana gown skimmed over a fitted black sheath and we added a pop of colour with Olga Berg’s emerald green satin clutch and a hint of sparkle with Theo Fennell’s diamond drop earrings. Emma’s look was a fabulous example of this season’s romance with lace and a fresh perspective on a how sumptuous, ornate fabrics are updated in deep shocks of colour and modern shapes. Tara x

To all Cinderellas out there, a prom dress is not just for the ball. We’ve taken a style leaf out of fashionista and super blogger Bip Ling’s page and showed you how to channel her prom dress look with pieces from Dressipi. Here she is working a toned down style at David Bailey’s ‘East End’ exhibition. Turn ‘pretty’ into ‘gritty’ with a must-have leather biker jacket.

We’ve found this piece from Warehouse £58 which will toughen up so many outfits it’s perfect really. Ditch the statement evening heels for ever so chic and cool black ballerinas. Have a look at the French women’s ‘swear by it’ ballerina brand Anniel  £49. (Bip’s are from Chanel so in the spirit of all things French…). Match your lipstick to your bright red handbag (New Look £12.99). Finally this prom dress from River Island £70 has just landed at Dressipi. I couldn’t resist the net – but don’t worry those flats and that jacket will keep you bike, tube and bus friendly. Natalie x
