Pick your favourite colour – then find a coat to match. That’s the way we’re wearing our cover-ups this season. There’s no holding back. If you’ve already bought the khaki parka, the tailored investment black, grey, navy or camel coat then this is a fun way to upgrade your capsule wardrobe pieces. Top-to-toe red is one of the key catwalk trends and the best way to channel this look is with a perfectly tailored coat. Add a cheeky leopard print shoe and keep everything else pared back for a perfect casual look. Natalie x

1. Reiss sunglasses £100, 2. Topshop coat £69, 3. Vince jumper £290, 4. Levi’s jeans £85, 5. French Sole London flats were £95 now £57.

Warm and fuzzy – it’s one of the hot to trot catwalk trends that you’ll be snuggling up in this season. Seems like designers have been taking inspiration from Ice Age 1, 2 and 3. Kate Moss owns the leopard print fur coat look hands down. She’s often papped in her signature vintage piece. You can own the look too. The whole faux fur and leopard combination oozes retro glamour. This coat will work around the clock from cosy and casual looks to vamp-it up cocktail hour stunners. You simply have to snap up a pussy-bow blouse. It’s all part of the reworked 70s boho mood as well as the miix-and-match granny chic trend. There are enough v-neck pussy bow necklines to happily accommodate those shapes that are not suited to a high neckline. You can just as easily snap up an on-trend black skinny scarf (Zara has perfect ones) and tie it at the neck of your favourite white shirt for the same effect. Put some glitz into your daytime footwear – it’s very 80’s which is very now. Which way will you go…haute or high? Natalie x

HAUTE: 1. The Kooples coat £355, 2. Gucci shoes £450, 3. Chloe top £635, 4. Saint Laurent jeans £385.

HIGH: 1. Topshop coat £89, 2. Oasis shoes £35, 3. H&M top £19.99, 4. Warehouse jeans £45.

Florals! A trend that seems to always be on-trend whether it’s an autumn/winter bloom or a spring/summer blossom. Catwalk trends sometimes feel like they don’t ever change. What does change is the way you wear them. This season, floral prints have a much more indulgent and exotic flavour to them…and so should the way you style them. Go for gold with a luxe layering of colours and textures. The print on this DKNY dress is not your average spring/summer spring. The neon yellow highlights are perfectly accentuated with this plush coloured coat and either of these jewel tone bags. Chandelier earrings turn up the volume…and why not? Natalie x

QUESTION: I would like to buy a cape coat. Under £100 possibly.

Cape coats are such a great alternative to a jacket or winter coat, in fact I’ve been wearing a lovely navy French Connection cape from a few years ago which still look fantastic! As seen on the A/W catwalks of Ralph Lauren and Saint Laurent, you’ve hit the trend on the head by investing in this garment…and what’s more this really is a timeless piece for all wardrobes. Neutral shades are best to stick to as as brightly coloured coats can be hard to team with everything in your wardrobe and we want this purchase to go with everything! With this in mind, we’ve found a great selection that we think you’re going to love:

1. Mango cape, £29.99: – This cashmere blend cape will pretty much go with everything in your wardrobe. Pair with a black shift dress and heeled courts for work, or pop on your favourite skinny jeans and a knitted sweater for a wonderfully cosy weekend outfit:

2. Myleeene Klass cape £79: – Creams and beige tones will look lovely against your brunette locks, so we’d recommend this gorgeous wintery cape with a fur collar. Practical, comfortable and very chic!

3. Zara cape, £79.99: – Houndstooth always looks stylish and on-trend, so why not shake things up with a monochrome version from Zara. Wear day or night, a conversation starter piece such as this will get you instant compliments every time:

4. Topshop cape £85: – Dark grey is a really versatile shade to wear – just add a colourful patterned scarf to complete the look:

5. Zara cape £109: – Although slightly over budget, this sophisticated timeless black cape will become your go-to coat for all occasion. Karen x

A few weeks back I was invited to the luscious surroundings of the Lanesborough Hotel for the Jacques Vert Group’s unveiling of their Mum & Me Coatwalk Ambassadors actress Emilia Fox and her mother Joanna David.

Whilst I sipped champagne and chatted with Emilia and Joanna (as one does) I also got to get an up close and personal look of the coats designed for the Mum & Me showcase catwalk event which was hosted at the end of October. This year the Mum & Me campaign supported the Think Pink breast cancer initiative:

You’ll find the coats that I saw on display by brands such as Kaliko, Planet, Windsmoor, Precis, Minuet Petite and Jacques Vert also on Dressipi. Ironically we had just used this  sculptural Planet red coat (£199), which Joanna David was sporting in a Style Icon How To Get The Look post of Doris Day….the modern way.

My all time favourite was this broody bright berry  Kaliko tailored wool coat (£179) with a fabulous waist-sculpting belt and full skirt:thumbnail-1452693-1534283

I was really impressed with the quality of the wools and cashmeres used in the coats making them very elegant winter coat investment pieces. I particularly liked Emilia’s quirky fluo accessorising of her navy blue lace Kaliko dress £79.20. You can get the look by adding this Cambridge Satchel Company leather bag £125. Here she is photographed with hair and make-up artist Enzo Volpe who was responsible for her fabulous looking locks and chic make-up. Natalie x

1. Pull & Bear coat £39.99, 2. Whistles black trousers £110, 3. Oasis blue sunglasses £5, 4. ASOS tan shoe boots £27

Gwen Stefani’s signature ice blond look and retro red lips work a chic contrast to the tailoring in this mum-on-the-run look. In fact she’s perfectly style matched two trends in one. On the beauty front she’s oh so 1940’s retro. On the style front this is a cool take on the season’s obsession with Masculine/Feminine. The sexy heeled shoe boot gives a sexy spin and that neutral tone softens the look. I love the powder blue sunglasses too. Suddenly masculine/feminine looks very Gwen Stefani. That’s the point of a trend. Make it your own. I think every wardrobe needs a grey coat. Whatever shade of grey you choose to go. Grey coats have a traditional Saville Row tailoring feel to them and are a wonderful wardrobe update for those looking to move away from, or add to, their chic black coat collection.  Here is just a handful of grey coats that channel that masculine/feminine look available on Dressipi. 1. Sandro coat £640: – On the designer front this coat from Sandro has a hip colour block detail. It is a very masculine straight cut so balance the volume off with a tailored trouser, skinny or straight leg jeans. Although it has that boxy feel to it the panel detailing creates the illusion of waist definition even though it is not cinching you in at all:

2. Fenn Wright Manson £250:- For an ultra classic piece of tailoring with a streamlined edge, this coat from FWM really is a timeless wardrobe addition. This style will suit all shapes giving just enough definition where needed as well as having a low enough neckline to accommodate broad shoulders:

3. Wallis £99:- Looking for something sleek and chic with a touch of military detailing at the shoulders? Wallis gives us this fabulous little ‘trend-updater’ number:
