QUESTION: Budget up to £200 . Looking for suggestions for a full length evening dress, or top and full length evening skirt in an outfit that will accommodate my height and conceal my shoulders.

ANSWER: A tall frame gives you a good pick of full length dresses and skirts on the high-street as you won’t need to alter them! For you it’s all about softening your shoulders and evening out the proportions between your upper and lower halves. With this in mind, we’ve picked a selection that we think you’ll love:

1. Adrianna Papell dress, £132.51: – As you mentioned you like to conceal your shoulders, we’re starting with a wonderful indigo dress with lace around the neckline. This detailing paired with a short sleeve gives you just the right amount of coverage. Full length outfits look best with a pair of heels, so we’d suggest a closed toe court shoe in either nude or metallic:

2. Monsoon Dress, £165: – A fitted waist is ideal to give you a really lovely silhouette and an embellished waist band adds a fabulously elegant touch of glamour. In keeping with the covered shoulders from the previous dress, this dress offers a bat wing style sleeve which is flattering on everyone! There is an air of grecian goddess about this look, so complete your outfit with a beautiful gold statement necklace or a pair of drop earrings:

3. Long Tall Sally skirt, £55: – Long Tall Sally specialise in taller clothes, so we have opted for a black maxi skirt with a gold thread, a really chic, timeless option. Although a straight skirt, the pleats give plenty of movement when you walk, plus the crinkle fabric travels well and definitely won’t need ironing! Let your skirt do all the talking by keeping all accessories simple, a black heel and matching clutch will do just the trick:

4. Wallis  top, now £28: – Lastly a top to go with your gorgeous new skirt! We mentioned keeping it simple, so how about a plain black fluid blouse with a jewelled neckline? We especially like this top as it’s really versatile and can easily be worn with a pair of tailored trousers for a sophisticated weekend outfit:

5. Monsoon jacket, £69: – As we’ve kept under budget, we couldn’t help but sneak a jacket into the mix! The seasons ultimate trend is faux-fur, so complement any of the suggested looks with a head turning little black coverup, a really stylish alternative to a shawl or bolero. Karen x

9. QUESTION: I have a wedding on 15th December that is going to be a cold but cozy log fire winter wedding. I want to look fabulous but not over dressed! The wedding is not black tie/mourning coats but will be quite fashionable. I am open to long dresses or cocktail dresses and want quite a classic look. If a cocktail dress I would like the dress to hang just above the knee (not too short) and potentially be able to wear with opaque tights without looking frumpy. It’s my first wedding out after having my baby and am most conscious of my tummy so nothing too slinky (though I am a converted spanx wearer!!). I’m happy to go for an investment piece if timeless (i.e. budget tops £600). Also will need some serious help on suggestions on what to put with the dress in terms of coat, shoes, jewellery and bag.

ANSWER: I love winter weddings, its a chance to dress up and look glam but feel comfortable in tights and warm jackets. my immediate thought is how lovely it would be to wear a faux fur jacket- very elegant, on trend and above all very cosy!

1. Issa, dress, £300: This hot red dress from Issa is an absolute wardrobe lifesaver, it can be worn to weddings, parties, cocktails or even in a work situation. The colour is amazing, a very vibrant red and is one of your investment colours. The cut is extremely flattering, the v-neck and the wrap waist all make your waist look trim and hide the tummy area. Its worth wearing a very sheer nude tight with these as it will look more modern. More exciting news- this dress is on sale, its £302 instead of £431. Its a total classic, and as I am sure you know this style was worn by the Duchess of Cambridge on the announcement of her engagement.

2.Topshop, coat, £79:  It would look totally stunning with a short faux fur coat, this one is has 3/4 sleeves and would also look great worn with jeans, heels and a sparkly top for Christmas nights out.

3. Lipsy, jacket, £85: This jacket is a lovely warm brown and has a simpler look, the belt will help to make it look more streamlined. Its from Lipsy which is probably not on your radar but this is a good shape and style for you.

4. Whistles, dress, £155: This dress is from Whistles, it is silk and draped across the stomach area, making your silhouette look more streamlined. This would look great with the grey faux fur jacket and could easily be worn with black opaque tights whilst still looking ultra chic.

5. Kurt Geiger, courts, £90: The best shoes to go for are pointed stilettos, with a mid height heel, as you have a great height already. Pointed shoes have been out of the limelight for a while, but luckily as they are so flattering, are now back in the fashion spotlight.

6. MCQ Alexander McQueen clutch £165: This red bag by Alexander McQueen would add a pop of bright colour to the purple Whistles dress with the grey fur.

7. DKNY, clutch, £160: This zebra clutch would look fab with the red dress and the grey fur jacket.

8. By Malene Birger gold clutch £135: This last gold bag will go with either look – again this will also look fab with jeans on a night out with the girls.

9. Reiss, coat, £285: If the faux fur is a step too far then go for a simple belted coat such as this one from Reiss, a lovely soft grey it will go with everything from dresses to jeans.

As far as jewellery is concerned I would keep it minimal, wear some small earrings and perhaps a couple of rings and leave it at that. Let the dress and the fur do the talking! I hope that this has given you some inspiration for your winter wedding. Nicki x
