There are some wonderful wardrobe updates to make next season when it comes to your shoe capsule wardrobe. Introduce a pair of jewel tone silk, satin or suede high heeled courts or kitten-heels (see Zara £49.99)to your outfits, but make sure they have a big opulent lashing of crystals or jewels. These are a fun and fabulous way to inject a bit of Versailles glam into your denim looks or vamp-up your cocktail hour lbd’s. Natalie x

Grunge. You either loved it the first time around in the 90’s … or ….had no idea what to make of it. Whatever the case this trend has made its way over the years into our wardrobes from biker boots to slinky silky boudoir style slips not to mention those checks. It’s never been easier to blend grunge accents into your casual wardrobe. These boots from Topshop have been flying off the shelves and are a hands down winner with fashion bloggers… if instagram is anything to go by. Use an oversized scarf to add that touch of tartan or check to your look and cover-up with a cosy denim jacket. These pieces are the perfect partner to a run-around jersey t-shirt dress in warm wintry shade. Natalie x

There really are no rules when it comes to ultra-versatile wardrobe pieces. Take this black stretch wool dress by DVF. It’s the perfect work-to-party piece. Add in a must-have faux-fur jacket which will update casual looks and also give that finishing touch to evening outfits. The two-tone pumps keep this outfit in the daytime zone … but evening-friendly too if heels aren’t your thing. Complete your look with a shoulder bag with a hint of animal print and a quirky statement earring. You can just as easily switch the shoes for a trainer, or an ankle boot or strappy evening sandal for 3 totally different moods. Natalie x

Sometimes there’s nothing better than a classic, and when it comes to skirts the figure-sculpting, nip-and-tucking tailored/fitted pencil skirt is a true style classic. Apart from putting a wiggle in your walk (you try and stride in a pencil skirt) this piece is the perfect outfit template to dress-up or dress-down. You’ll find some sleek and chic pieces in gorgeous summer hues filtering into shops. L.K. Bennett for example has bold bright high waisted pencil skirts in either coral or bright yellow. Perfect for occasion dressing or more informal lunches at the weekend. The soft duck egg blue of this Roland Mouret piece blends in easily with a denim shirt. Denim after all is not just for weekends and this shirt is in a softer chambray fabric so it’s easily tucked in at the waist or  left out for a more casual feel. Ladylike, smaller structured handbags are the s/s alternative to roomier day totes. Play around with these soft sorbet hues and style with an edgier black patent court and gold chain necklace to toughen things up a bit. Natalie x

Planning a weekend break in the sunshine? Soak up the sunshine in a gorgeous bright maxi dress. This piece is channeling the Spanish Influences trend with its flouncy off-the-shoulder ruffle detail and that flamenco lipstick red. A gold heel and clutch will make this an eye-catching evening number. By day, versatile neutral shades are the perfect balance. Create even more definition by looping this rope leather belt around the waist. You could do the same with a slinky gold chain belt like this piece from Topshop £16. I put these wedge sandals in because they are a great summer style and are on sale at The Outnet. You might also like this red crochet sundress from ASOS £38 or this spaghetti strap red maxi from M&S £29.50. Natalie x

Designers and the high street alike are all loosening up lace, taking the usual classic shift dress style and giving it more of a modern spin with a little quirky sleeve detail here or a complete dress shape overhaul there. This means that your lace dress is not stuck in the realms of occasion dressing only. We’ve already seen some fabulous navy pieces from Whistles, Zara and Phase Eight on the blog. The sugary mint shade of this H&M piece adds a fresh alternative (it also comes in a blush colour). Dress it down with an espadrille and straw hat for a casual but chic lunchtime look. Vamp it up with a slinky heel and give a strong contrast with a black clutch. Note to self:  you could also style this for evening with a pastel pink sandal. Natalie x
