A dress that’s the perfect blank canvas is a great investment piece for your wardrobe. This navy blue fit-and-flare update on the shirt dress can take you from a weekend lunch (white skate shoes or a tan wedge) to a wedding guest or evening out look. Play around with your accessories. Add bold brights for a summery feel or stick to metallics for a touch of evening glamour. Natalie x

With the thought of the Oscars on the horizon, here is a trick all the red carpet stylists use when styling their celebrity clients. It’s the barely-there sandal, which is exactly what its name means. In either black (thanks Saint Laurent) or nude or metallic, this simple sandal style with a strap at the ankle and over the bridge of the foot has the effect of elongating legs. Have a look next time you’re time-wasting and scrolling through red carpet coverage on the Mail online. This sandal also takes this polka dot dress from cute to chic. Add a biker jacket if you like or a tailored tux style. Natalie x

Tear yourself away from the grey knits (even though we love them) and easy to wear denims with an indulgent floral print of the new season. Pile on the patterns with this lust-have leather bag from Mango (which feels very Gucci!). Steely sunglasses and run-around-flats take ladylike down a casual notch or too. Style with an oversized denim jacket or fitted biker. You know the style ropes by now – a slinky metallic sandal or killer courts make this just the outfit for any occasion. Don’t forget the clutch and a fabulous pair of earrings.  Natalie x

When it comes to pattern and print keep it sleek and simple with your accessories. Somewhere in your wardrobe it helps to have at hand a heel + bag + accessory combination that you can go to at the last minute to style anything from a chic black dress to a fun print piece taking a look from day to night. On the simplest level a mixture of neutrals (think black, nude, stone) and metallics in your accessory fashion formula works a dream. Avoid going matchy-matchy with all three pieces. Give it a try! We do love a white (or ivory) jacket especially when styling up an evening or occasion look. Sometimes all you need is that simple extra touch when it comes to a cover-up as opposed to going full-on with a coat. This silk dress from Whistles falls just below the knee and gives the illusion of having a low cut v-neck thanks to the slip of hot pink layered under the print. Teamed with the fit-and-flare shape and you’ve got a waist-defining turn boost. These shoes pick up perfectly on the different tones of pink whilst the black bag adds a great contrast to break it all up. You will find my pick of white or ivory jackets here: Natalie’s Neutral Jackets. Have a look. The Coast jacket in this outfit is flying off the shelves but you will find something similar in my  list at H&M and Mango. You could swap the dress with a tailored slim leg black ankle trouser and camisole for a sleek dinner look. Natalie x

2016-03-02-1dress-2ways-RTIf those invitations to spring weddings, garden parties and holiday fiestas are pouring in and you find yourself having a mild what-to-wear fashion panic….stop and breathe. If you invest in one dress you love and multi-task your accessories and cover-ups around it you can work your way stylishly through your summer events. This works the other way around too – if you already have a dress in your wardrobe, no matter how simple, look to using new accessories to give it a different mood per occasion. Case in hand this gorgeous fit-and-flare Phase Eight dress. Blend in neutral heels and a glimmer of gold (the headpiece) with a fabulous multi-tasking white jacket and you’ll be race-goer or wedding-guest perfect. Channel a catwalk trend to give your dress a completely different spin. Dabble in the haute hippie mood by adding colourful textures and patterns. Be careful, this pattern on pattern thing can be tricky as you could end up looking like a magpie’s nest…so…if you do want to try this print-on-print look with something you have, stick to the same key colour (in this case blue) and make sure your prints/patterns are all keeping to the haute hippie flavour as opposed to a mash-up of trends. Having said that, you can just as well add only one of these pieces in a your lust-have trend – the bag or the heels – and it will give your dress a new lease on life. The denim jacket is an after thought. One I have had many times as I have dashed out the house to a dinner or a daytime party and thought to myself ,“I need a little jacket but don’t want to look too formal”, and subsequently find myself reaching for my denim jacket. A leather biker style will do the trick too. Give it a whirl. Natalie x

QUESTION: I need to find a cocktail dress for two summer weddings. I had a baby 6 weeks ago though and while I’m broadly back to my size ten, my tummy and boobs are a little larger than normal so I need to take this into consideration with the dress! Happy to spend up to £150.

ANSWER: Congratulations on the birth of your child, such wonderful news and thanks for the picture  – and how very exciting that you have two weddings to attend this summer. We’ve chosen a few options we think you’ll love:

1. Reiss dress, now £145: – We’re starting off with full-on cocktail glamour! This Reiss dress is a fabulous all-year-roud option, team with open toe sandals in the summer, or black tights and closed toe courts for the colder months. The fit-and-flar style will draw the eye to your smallest area, whilst the flared skirt gives you a beautifully flattering silhouette:

garment-2311989-29328892. French Connection dress, £45: – Now for a really classic wardrobe staple – the wrap dress. This style is absolutely perfect for you as once again, the waist is emphasised and the soft pleating over your tummy hides anything you may not want to show! Navy is a versatile and easy colour to wear, just pop on a pair of metallic courts and a pashmina in a contrasting shade. Job done!:

3. Adrianna Papell, £130: If you fancy going for something truly showstopping, try a bright tone like this gorgeous hot red. As red it one of your fave shades to wear, we couldn’t help but put it in the mix! The ‘v’ neck shows just the right amount of décolletage whilst also elongating your upper body and the frill front adds a lovely feminine touch…it’s also very similar in fit and style to the dress you are wearing in the picture you sent us:

4. Anthropologie dress, £158: – Lastly we’ve gone for something really summery and stylish. Antrhopologie always create the most wonderful prints and this floral frock is no exception. Wear with either nude, navy or metallic sandals and match this tone to your clutch bag. One piece of jewellery will finish the outfit off perfectly, we’d recommend a pair of drop earrings or a statement bracelet:

We hope this has given some fashion inspiration, have a superb time at both weddings and let as know how you get on as we love to receive feedback. Karen x
