Soft volume in a dress or skirt plus an over-the-knee boot is the perfect winter style combination. It lends itself to an ideal day-to-night outfit option. Layer over a faux-fur gilet or a loose fit longline cardigan. If you look at the autumn/winter catwalks of Valentino and Gucci for example there was no holding back on prints plus more prints. Go for double florals by styling this dress with a bag that picks up on the floral details. Natalie x

1item2waysIt’s all about keeping things in perspective. Fashion and life that is. This season there is an influx of saucy over-the-knee boots and the ideal way to balance out all that sauciness is with a play on proportions. Think volume contrasted with slinky. These fabulous suede boots from Topshop have a solid enough heel to style both night and day looks. The length of these boots will slip effortlessly under below-the-knee flowing culottes that give a bit of volume to soften the boots. Alternatively accentuate the slinky footwear by styling over skinny jeans to really elongate those legs. A floaty silk blouse and straight cut parka give the requisite softening volume and a cool and hip casual feel. As I said, it’s all about keeping things in perspective. Natalie x

Fabulously cosy coat + your favourite jeans + a vibrant knit hat. Hello casual chic. It used to be that puffas and parkas were the domain of high-performance functional gear. But the high street and designers alike have brought the great outdoors indoors which a stylish array of fashion lead outer wear. Thank goodness for that. We’ve filled in the best of the rest for you with a selection of must-have scarves and winter boots.

Each season you know you can depend on those designer must-haves in particular versatile printed scarves. Last season it was all about the Yves Saint Laurent cashmere grey animal print. This season YSL has warmed up the tones with a deep khaki print – a piece that will take your from weekend coat to little black dress – whatever your wish. For a similar feel you might like Hugo Boss’s charcoal grey printed modal scarf, ideal for styling up a corporate chic look. Cosy up with an oversized Topshop pom-pom trim scarf or create a vintage style collar effect with BHS’s leopard print faux-fur piece.

Winter boots are becoming a bit of a fashion accessory in their own right – highly addictive, highly desirable and one pair sometimes just isn’t enough. From biker style to wedge ankle boots, what’s a girl supposed to do with so many choices?! Isabel Marant’s high top trainers don’t even touch sides in department stores and online retailers alike. Then again they might not even touch sides with your budget. Never fear – snap up this trend with thanks to Dorothy Perkins’ take on these designer lust-haves. For an ultra-smooth and sophisticated biker boot I can’t help but fall in love with these Stuart Weitzman beauties. I particularly like the wrap around buckle effect. I have skinny legs and most biker boots could double up as a shopping bag for me they are so roomy. Equestrian style boots are one of our most “liked” styles on Dressipi. It seems you all have a thing for horses, uniforms, and riding chic?! I blame Prince Harry. I quite like that these Anthropologie chocolate brown leather boots are a mid-calf equestrian style as opposed to knee length. It makes for a change and it’s all a little less high maintenance which is what you want on a lazy weekend. I also like that they are called Gallop Boots! If you love the cosiness of the concept of Uggs but would prefer a much more elegant and streamlined style you might like these Salvatore Ferragamo  suede and shearling boots. They are gorgeous. Happy weekend. Natalie x

We have gone past the point of no return. Opaques. Boots. Umbrellas. Scarves. It’s all happening now until about sometime next year and I am not going to bother hazarding a guess as to when exactly. It’s the perfect weather for busting out a boot. A stylish boot that is. Save your cosy Uggs and Mous and any other brand that sounds like a farmyard animal saying “good morning” for January and February, those months when you wish you were walking around with a duvet wrapped permanently around you. Instead, opt for one of the fabulous style options out there at the moment. Ankle boots are absolutely having their moment in the sun (so to speak). It’s the easiest boot to style for when you want to battle the rain but still look fabulous. I have to hand it to our Dressipi style sleuth Donna who is very adept at globally sourcing the exact colour, style, boot, brand that she so desires. (Which goes a long way into explaining what drove her to set up Dressipi). Being a Sam Edelman 24-hour ballerina flats type of woman it was only right that her winter ankle boot was to be a Sam Edelman number. In her favourite on-trend colour of the moment “berry”.  You might also like the same style in black leather.  Remember to use a protector spray (against the rain!) on your suede shoes and boots.
